About: Roberto Frugone

Roberto Frugone is the President of The Frugone Group, a New Jersey-based consulting firm specializing in speechwriting, grant proposals, economic development and international trade papers. In this role, he has written on the effect of the New Jersey budget on the Latino community. Frugone is also a full-time member of the compliance team of the New Jersey Democratic State Committee. His responsibilities include the evaluation and processing of all contributions made to the Democratic Party to ensure compliance with applicable state and federal campaign finance laws. In addition, he serves as a liaison to the Hispanic community in the state, working to ensure greater participation by the community within the Party. During the 2006 U.S. Senate race, Frugone served as co-director of the Latino Base Vote program for the Democratic coordinated campaign along with compy Gabriel Rodriguez. In this effort, he helped lead a team that proved what a united community is capable of achieving: the election of Sen. Robert Menendez. The 2006 election cycle also set into motion a movement by the Latino community to achieve better communication and greater political empowerment among local movements and tie into a statewide, collaborative effort -- La Causa. Prior to joining the State Party, Frugone worked as a financial advisor with Morgan Stanley, one of the largest financial services firms in the world. At the firm, Frugone prepared detailed analysis of companies for recommendation to his current and potential clients based on their individual needs. During his time with Morgan Stanley, he also implemented a program that provided free financial workshops within a number of communities in Morris County. In addition to these work responsibilities, Frugone continues to stay involved in a number of community organizations. Frugone currently serves as Sunday School president at his church. He has served as a member of the board of trustees at the County College of Morris and as a member and elected treasurer of the New Jersey Commission on National and Community Service. This commission, whose members are appointed by the Governor, is responsible for overseeing all national service programs in the state including the AmeriCorps program. Americorps is one of the most successful domestic volunteer programs in the national allowing individuals to give back to their community in areas ranging from homeland security to teaching. Frugone is a graduate of Rutgers University with a degree in economics. Prior to earning his B.A., he earned an Associates degree in Business Administration at the County College of Morris where he also served as president of the student government.
